New Delhi : A new strategic equation appears to be taking shape in the region, with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan reportedly working on a trilateral defence agreement aimed at expanding military and security cooperation among the three nations.

According to an international media report the three countries are in the process of drafting the proposed defence arrangement, which would function separately from the existing Saudi Arabia–Pakistan bilateral defence cooperation agreement.

Sources cited in the reports indicate that the proposed pact could open new avenues for collaboration in areas such as military coordination, defence partnerships, training, and strategic security initiatives.

Meanwhile, Bahrain has reportedly shown interest in exploring a similar defence arrangement, while Jordan is looking to develop separate agreements related to arms cooperation and military training.

For Pakistan, strengthening defence partnerships with regional countries is being seen as part of a broader strategy to enhance strategic engagement, encourage foreign investment, and support its economic priorities.

The potential trilateral framework highlights the evolving security landscape in West Asia and South Asia, where countries are increasingly seeking closer defence ties and new models of regional cooperation.
